After the culmination of inspiration and industry that resulted in my last post, I had fatigued that particular faculty.
Then I was assigned to lead a patrol to Joint Base Balad, one of the biggest U.S. stations in this entire theater. Besides the very serious perimeter security, it is easy to forget you are in Iraq. The structures on most FOBs have a temporary feel to them - some of them are hastily constructed wooden structures, and some are even tent-like structures. On JBB, the buildings resemble those on any military installation in the U.S. I overheard someone speculate that are thirty thousand personnel on the base!
The patrol was eventful enough. And it was exciting to see more of Iraq besides this one little corner of the northwest. But it did mean over a week with no posting.
So here we are, my second post. And what is it about? It is about itself.
I'm metablogging!
